Those of you who have been keeping up with FFB in London adventures saw that I hosted a Valentine’s event with my sweet London sidekick, Ashley Yeater! Ashley not only has a Broadway resume that I would literally frame but recently moved to London and launched her fitness method, DEFINE… talk about a girl. boss. #inspired
I’ve been a fan of Ashley from the very first time I took her Physique 57 class and featured her on FFB (check out her original feature HERE). I had taken barre but Ashley’s class was in a galaxy of it’s own and DEFINED everything I wanted from a workout class– positive vibes, lots of laughs, a class that left me sore for days, and #FitforBroadway approved!
I’d say London sealed us as gal pals and confirmed my obsession with her approach to fitness. Lucky for us, this weekend, Ashley’s going to DEFINE our Fit for Broadway weekend workout… you won’t want to miss it! I’m giving the stage to Ashley so she can share with you guy’s how she defines DEFINE!
Since launching DEFINE in the UK 6 weeks it has been the best roller coaster of my life. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many new friends and I’ve had the equal pleasure of making my long time friends in massive thigh pain… HAHA!!! New beginnings can be absolutely intimidating but with the right support system like the one I have, they can help push you over road bumps and lead you forward. Each day I learn and grow with this new business. Each day my purpose and passion is clearer. Each day I DEFINE myself. I’m beyond excited for what is to come. I hope you stay along or join the ride… It’s time to DEFINE YOU!!

BROADWAY >>>>> FITNESS
My dance training started at a very young age. By the age of 10 I was training an hour and a half away from my house three times a week. My dance teacher at the time recommended that when I wasn’t at the studio I go to the gym to work on my strength and endurance. So I was a gym member at a very young age in Moundsville, West Virginia. I used their aerobics room to work on my solos and incorporated the bike and treadmill into my training routines. I saw a massive change not only in my body but also my stamina to endure long routines. Going to the gym also kept me out of trouble 🙂
The early beginnings of my Broadway career was found touring nationally and internationally. I had already instilled in myself a gym routine and pretty much stuck to it. I would say by 2008 I was burnt out of the gym and looking for more classes. I fell in love with barre work at Physique 57 in 2009 and that began my teaching career. I found a passion for teaching I never knew existed. The new friends I was making and the community I was now a part of was thrilling. I started taking more fitness classes all over the city and found so much inspiration. I was very lucky to be performing on Broadway and teaching on the regular. I also started my own personal training business 3 years ago and joined the spin bandwagon at Flywheel. Teaching fitness became my own mini stage and having my own business created a deeper responsibility not only to my clients but to myself. My behavior on the day to day was way more important because I had so many people relying on me I had to be healthy…and I loved it!
ASPIRE TO INSPIRE
The fitness industry is beyond BOOMING!!!! In NYC alone there must be three boutique gyms on every block. There may be more gyms than Starbucks:) The fitness heartbeat is definitely on the rise in London. That energy drives me every day teaching new clients. My DEFINE method is a mash up of all things that have DEFINED me through my 7 years teaching fitness. I have pulled from all things I have been exposed to taking and things I have learned teaching. My twist would be for my constant change in choreography, change in pace, and always changing approach. I never want to conform to one way. Nor do I want my teachers to be enclosed in a bubble and not have personality. I don’t ever want a client to get bored. This is where my “Aspire to Inspire” comes from. I work hard on myself to be better for my clients each day. I’m always thinking of new moves or ways to enhance an old move that will motivate them. I hope they fine through my class an empowering way to better DEFINE themselves.

DEFINE has just started gaining momentum in London and I am beyond thrilled. We have lots of exciting things lined up for DEFINE so stay posted to the website. I have so many friends and dear clients in NYC I will definitely be back and forth teaching between London and NYC. New York will always have a special place in my heart. It definitely helped DEFINE me so there is no way I won’t be back to DEFINE you.

Ashley is also currently teaching twice a week at Lorna Jane studio space within their store location in Covent Garden, London. Thursday at 6:30pm and Saturdays at 11:30am. Also, coming soon, DEFINE will be at Lululemon in Covent Garden as well as Sweaty Betty in Chelsea. You’ll see me in all of her classes June, July, and August 😉 #SummerinLondon
