This week our Broadway Hero is ray of light, LAURA OSNES.
“‘She completely looked the part of a princess. A real, live, bona fide princess. And when she opened her mouth you were sure you’d found a princess.’ William Wyler on Audrey Hepburn. To which I would synonymously describe Laura. There have been handful of people who have become guiding lights through their example during my “Fit for Broadway” journey and Laura, you are one of them. Thank you for your constant inspiration! Celebrating you today and always!” —Jane Jourdan, Fit for Broadway
“Laura Osnes has been such an inspiration to me not just in theater, but in life as well. Her compassion, inner (and outer) beauty, and genuine kindness have driven me to be willing to go the extra mile to be a person described as kind. She often encourages young theater enthusiasts to “follow your own story,” and that “everyone’s path is so different.” These messages have encouraged me to work extra hard to achieve, and, as hard as it can be, not look to the person on either side of you, but straight ahead towards your own goals. Her constant grace and poise are incredibly inspiring, and I truly believe part of who I’ve become today is through the inspiration I’ve taken from Laura. Thank you so much for your inspiration Laura, continue to shine!” —Anonymous
“Laura is one of my Broadway heroes because of her beautiful voice and incomparable talent. She accomplishes everything that she does with excitement and positivity. But the most important reason that Laura Osnes is my biggest Broadway hero is because of her relationship with God that she is unashamed to share. My personal beliefs are very similar to Laura’s and I find it incredible that she is living her Broadway dream while walking with God.” —Michaela C.
“As a fellow soprano and hopeful performer, Laura Osnes has remained my favorite role model! I admire her strong faith and positivity, because with such a challenging, fast pace career, many get frustrated and bitter, but Laura is always positive…Laura Osnes is such a wonderful role model for young women! I am so thankful to be able to watch her perform. Thank you Laura!” —Kelsey Cox
“I am a dancer and it has been a very difficult journey and struggle for me these past few years. Because of Laura I have began taking voice lessons and I have been in all of my High School musicals and plays. I have been auditioning for colleges and the advice that Laura shares has really given the confidence to put my best foot forward and to not give up. Laura is my light. She gave me the strength to get a job and so that I could pay for my own dance and voice lessons so that I too one day can turn my dreams into a reality. Laura Osnes is, a real life princess, a huge inspiration, a strong gift to this world, and an amazing person. Thank you Laura for all you do! I love you Laura!” —Kristina DiCarlo
“Laura is so down-to-earth, despite living her dream, and it is so obvious that she loves what she does and that she loves the people she does it with. She basically just radiates love and light, and that can be a difficult thing to do, especially in an industry that can sometimes beat you down. I also admire how open she is about how her faith has kept her grounded. Laura Osnes reminds me daily of the kind of person I want to be – supportive, kind, and genuine, in both my art and my interactions. She’s been my Broadway Hero since the day I first heard her sing, and I’m sure she will be for many years to come. <3” —Mary-Margaret
“[Laura] always brings out the best in others and makes them feel important and loved; I really admire that. She makes me want to be my best self. She makes me want to be a little kinder, a little gentler; a little better. And I think that is powerful. I don’t aspire to be on Broadway, though that is an amazing thing. I think that it is the mark of a truly great person if they can inspire others to be their best through their work, no matter who that other person is. Laura does that. She makes me want to be better…. if I could just manage to be in a place where I uplift and encourage others like Laura does, I will have achieved a beautiful and meaningful life. She is a Broadway hero in many ways. She is a light in my life and I haven’t even met her in person! She has made me want to be my best self. She has changed my life. I love her.” — Emily A.
“Laura has inspired me in several different ways. One way she has inspired me is with her kindness. I see the way she interacts with fans and with fellow broadway actors/actresses. I also admire Laura’s undying love for her husband, Nate, how they are “hopelessly devoted” to each other, and how anytime you see photos or videos of them together, or hear Laura talk about Nate in interviews and such, you can tell that those two would not be who they are without the other. That gives me inspiration and hope to wait for the right guy and have a marriage like that someday. Lastly, I love Laura’s humbleness. She has become very talented and popular in the Broadway world, but she doesn’t let it go to her head. She stays humble and kind and isn’t afraid to talk about her faith and how it keeps her grounded. Laura is MY broadway hero.” — Lainey
“Laura Osnes is one of my biggest heroes! She has inspired me through her talent, her passion and just being herself. Her story of just being a small town girl with a dream of the Broadway stage is so relatable to my life, and gives me hope that anyone can pursue their dreams. I love how humble Laura is, despite being THE Broadway princess she remains so sweet and doesn’t act arrogant or conceited. Her passion for her work is so evident and shines through every production she’s been apart of. Thank you Laura for the incredible role you’ve played in helping me continue working toward my dreams.” —Cassie B.
“I am so excited Laura was picked as the first Hero!! It couldn’t be better timing, as I am currently in rehearsals for my school’s production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. I am so lucky to be playing the role that Laura brought to life, the kind and outspoken Ella. In my preparation and research I discovered the actual princess that Laura is. Not only did she portray Cinderella marvelously, but she also seems just as sweet and humble offstage. As a young artist in the very first stages of her career, I have been inspired by people like Laura, who retain their humanity and kindness even after so much success. When deciding on my career path, I was nervous about choosing the theatre world that is so famous for its divas and mean directors, but knowing that there are genuine people like Laura and my favorite blogger, Jane, is more that reassuring ;). Laura is undoubtedly a hero, a princess, and an inspiration to young girls everywhere. I am ecstatic to be in her shoes soon, but Lord knows it’s hard to fill those glass slippers :)” —Liz J.
“Whenever I am making a hard decision or wondering if I am doing the right thing I like to think about what Laura Osnes would do. I always think the answer would be to be kind and be yourself. That answer always makes a brighter day and inspires me to be the kindest person I can be. Whenever I am having a hard day or I am nervous I imagine she is in the audience, that makes me work harder and perform better which brightens my day. Nothing is “Impossible” and I am going to “Dare to Dream” until my dreams become reality.” —Rebecca H.
“Laura has been an instrumental inspiration in my journey as a performer and in my fitness. She shows me that “I can be whatever I want to be”. From her Cinderella, I learned that any thing is possible. No matter how impossible my dreams may seem with any challenges I face- when my health isn’t great, I’m discouraged,etc- the roles that Laura has given herself to are motivation to give MY all in all I do. I have learned so much from her interviews- I now plank a minute a day thanks to her! Meeting Laura was one of the greatest experiences of my life, and she is as kind as she seems. I’d love to thank her for setting me on a great path!” —Alexa O.
“Laura is such a sweet person who is so talented and loves to share her talent with others. She is so helpful when it comes to helping others with auditions and she also just loves to help people achieve greatness and be the best that they can be. The way she is around other people makes me smile. She is always so kind and loving and never seems to be in a bad mood. I strive to have the happiness she has when she meets new people, fans and even kids. She is actual royalty on Broadway and I love her for it.” — Claire M.
“LAURA OSNES… what a shining star! Wow… where do I even begin? She is the total ideal of a Broadway performer. Strong, beautiful, successful, and yet kind and faith-centered. She is also totally inspiring when it comes to dancing prowess.(is that a thing? 😉 Being a more vocal and acting- centered person, I’ve always been nervous about the level of dancing required of Broadway performers. I am definitely not a ballerina haha. But through hard work and lots of practice, classes, and dedication, Laura is now an amazing dancer and now I know I can be too.” —Brooke H.
