Day 9 - Distilling Your He(art)’s Desires
Growing up, I knew theatre was what I wanted to do. It’s what I was surrounded with, it's where I thrived. It’s where I was happiest. For me, Broadway was the goal. I worked my ass off to get here and I fight to stay here every day. I show up and do good work. But something I’ve come to realize is that Broadway is not the be all end all. There are so many other ways to make art. To feed my passion. To feel fulfilled. What has helped me come to this realization is distilling what my desires really are. Broadway was about storytelling on a large scale. Key word storytelling. I want to tell stories. That’s what makes me happy. That’s what my true desire was. I broke it down to that and realized I can do that anywhere and be happy. I can do it on Broadway, regionally, on screen, in writing; any way I can get meaningful truths across makes my he(art) full.
So what about you? Let's figure out why it is you want what you want. Let's break it down and get to the he(art) of why you want to do this. It can be small, it can be large. There is no correct way to be you and to go through your journey. Tomorrow you will get to create your own he(art)map and no one else can tell you that you're doing it wrong.

During this time, here are a few extra ideas to consider.
How can we incorporate sharing our dreams and desires with others right now?
Can we live-stream and sing to people?
Can we read them a monologue or share a new piece we’ve written?
What if we opened a conversation with our friends about what THEIR hearts desires are?
What can we learn together from this experience?
