Every few weeks, a new Broadway Hero is nominated by you to be featured on FFB with your stories of admiration. We’re constantly discovering the lanterns to light the way on our Fit for Broadway journey, one of these being our Broadway heroes!
This week our Broadway Hero is the lovely, Sierra Boggess! (and her Birthday is coming up so extra reason to celebrate Sierra this month!!)
Below are beautiful testimonies to the impact Sierra makes daily in each of our lives! (I’ll start us off because I’ve been so inspired by her over the past few years)
“‘And her heart was the best part, it would always calm the storm for those who were afraid of a little rain.’ r.m. drake | What a sweet heart to celebrate!! And someone who doesn’t just lead by example but extends herself to inspire and uplift others day after day! I aspire to make the sort of impact you are making, Sierra! Thank you for all of the encouragement and support for Fit for Broadway. It means more than you know!” – Jane Jourdan, Fit for Broadway
“This may sound cheesy, but, she’s the person that made me realize what I want to do with my life. I’d like to be on Broadway one day. She made me realize that through her talent and loveliness. I never knew that a person I’ve never met or ever made contact with could help me understand what I came on this Earth for, but, I know now thanks to her! I’m 14-years-old and I live all the way on the other side of the country, opposite of New York, in Hawaiʻi. In the future, I’d like to be like her and use my talent to inspire people too.” – Aurora Slover
“If I ever feel like my dreams are impossible or that I am not good enough, or strong enough, or am incapable of overcoming obstacles, I just listen to Sierra’s album and the cast recordings of shows that she has been in and am reminded that I AM ENOUGH. Her fabulous mantra has helped me through many difficult times this past year and it continues to help me send positive energy into the world! Sierra… Thank you for being you!!!!” – Lauren P.
“I happened across a video of Sierra this past fall on youtube. I had never heard of her before, but instantly fell in love with her voice. As I looked more into her career I became more and more inspired by her. I was stuck in a horrible job at that time and was being bullied and harassed by my supervisor and was fighting with serious health issues (many of which were a result of the stress from my job). I began to feel very bad about myself. I felt worthless in a lot of ways and very depressed. When I came across Sierra’s “You Are Enough” quote it really helped me to gain a new perspective. I began to feel better about myself and my capabilities. I love how Sierra shares her journey through life in a way to inspire others. (She also seems to be a real goofball which I love.) She is always sharing things on social media that are geared towards building up others and reminding us that even though we are “enough” we can also continue to work on ourselves and be even better.” – Kate K.
“Sierra is my biggest inspiration. Her voice is phenomenal and I’m a soprano also, so I aspire to sing like her, but not only sing like her, but to be as positive and uplifting as she is when she’s off the stage too. She’s so motivational and is so focused on being present and I really admire that. I especially admire her quotes like “You are Enough” and “perfectly imperfect”.” – Anysa W.
“I look forward to [Sierra’s] posts on social media because she reminds me that relentless positivity is a way of life that I can choose when I am surrounded with negativity and self-doubt. I listen to her perform every time I audition because her confidence permeates through my soul and fills me with joy so that I can forget to be nervous, or better yet accept my nerves and realize that I am excited.” – Tabitha C.
“Sierra inspires me in so many ways. She inspires me to do the things I’m most afraid. She inspires me to be a better person than I was yesterday. She gave me that push I needed, to not to be scared to do what I truly love. She made me look at the world from a different perspective. A much more positive perspective. And for all of that, I am incredibly grateful to her. I can’t thank Sierra enough for being such a inspiring, talented and beautiful person.” – Tereza M.
“Sierra Boggess is such a joy to watch no matter what topic she talks about. She is such an inspirations to anyone who needs advice on everyday things and I love how she shares that with the world. She always puts a smile on my face no matter how I feel and her love, enthusiasm and joy is very “contagious”!… All the best from Germany, now actually New Zealand.” – Marlis
“…Because of Sierra, I’ve learned to see all the challenges I’ve faced in a positive light, as learning experiences and things that made me stronger. Being a transgender person with mental health problems is a challenge, but turning to Sierra’s inspirational words that she so kindly shares makes it worth enduring. She’s helped me accept that I will never be fully perfect, and that is okay. Her impact on me is so strong that I got “you are enough” in her handwriting as my first tattoo, a permanent reminder on my body that I am enough, for when I forget and want to hurt myself for not being enough. Sierra is most definitely my broadway hero.” – Mattie S.
“Sierra is an actual delight to see and perform. Her voice is beautiful and I just love the way she carries herself. Whenever I’m having “one of those days” I just grab a sticky note and write “You are enough” on it and just put it on my mirror. It reminds me that no matter what I am enough and I can do anything I can dream. I love you Sierra and I hope to meet you one day in person.” – Claire M.
“Not many people have a positive outlook on life like she does! I love her quotes and mantras such as “You are enough!”. I also really appreciate that she always reaches out to her fans encourages them to be positive as well. Sierra also constantly inspires me to be a better performer. She truly puts everything into each role that she does and always puts her best foot forward. I got to see her live as Christine in Phantom on Broadway almost two years ago and she really demonstrated this! Sierra is definitely my Broadway hero!!” – Julia B.
“[Sierra] introduced me to Wayne Dyer, and because of his teachings and her example, I find myself a more caring and appreciative human being! I find myself taking time to reflect and work on myself to be for others what she is to me… Sierra Boggess, you are my hero.” – Devin M.
“In the almost two years since I’ve discovered [Sierra], I have become a completely different person than who I was before. I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety since I was fourteen, and I was listening to “Awakening” for the first time during a particularly low point in my life. Sierra and the “You are enough” quote brought me back to life and have helped me become the positive person I am today. My mental illness still exists, but her positivity helps me to get through it and come out stronger. I think she is one of the most inspiring people that exists in our world!” – Rose F.
“[Sierra] is one of the most inspirational people on this planet and I look up to her for being so kind and optimistic about everything. The “you are enough” quote has made a HUGE impact on my life by making me feel like I can just be who I am. And my mom is a high school teacher at my school and she says it to her students all the time and now I hear people in the hallways saying “you are enough” to their friends! It’s the coolest thing ever.” – Jordan W.
“Sierra is one of my biggest inspirations. She is incredibly gorgeous, kind, and extremely talented. Watching her in School of Rock truly was a dream come true. I am unable to explain how amazing her vocals are. I hope one day I’ll get to meet her; she seems like the kindest, most wonderful person.” – Gabby A.
“Not only is Sierra an incredible performer herself, but she loves helping other young performers in reaching their goals and giving them mantras and inspiration to do so, letting them know that THEY themselves are always enough!… I was also inspired to try vinyasa yoga, and now I have a session twice a week, and let me say, that is an amazing way to start your week!” – Gavin D.
“Sierra inspires me in so many wonderful ways. Her tips about fear and anxiety are so good and really helpful for me, because I always need to remember to calm myself down and sometimes it is really difficult. Every time I watch her periscopes I feel more confident and it helps me to remember who I am, what I want to do and to be the best version of myself. Her energy is amazing and she’s beautiful!” – Rebecca F.
“I love the way that Sierra uses social media to reach out not just to her fans, but to anyone who might be in need of comfort or assurance. I think that Sierra’s whole lifestyle and philosophy are admirable and something to look up to. I definitely aspire to become more like her…The way that Sierra lives each day reminds me to keep looking forward, and never lose faith that the universe is perfect, and the timing is perfect. Thank you Sierra for sharing your mantra, your peace, and your light with us! Lots of love from your fans in Mexico.” – Francis S.
“[Sierra…] most of all, I thank you for being a positive role model for myself and for other girls (and yes guys to! They can most certainly be reminded that they are enough! Just as important). I know that you probably weren’t aware of the fact that you’ve helped me, but I want to say thank you. A while ago you posted pictures of the word cards that you pull out before shows… the words were “Surrender” and “Believe.” Those are two words that are currently the wallpaper of my phone as a reminder not to stress and to have faith.” – Jennifer L.
“…As being a performer myself (well, I am still in high school…), I always say to myself before going on stage, “You are enough. You are so enough. It’s unbelievable how enough you are. You have nothing to prove, only to share.” [Sierra] inspires me to chase my dreams and not to be afraid of them. If I could only thank her for all that she’s done for me and many others, I would. And let us not forget about that phenomenal voice/stage presence of hers!!!!” – Emily D.
