Magic Monday // Wisdom from the FFB Workshop

Happy Magic Monday sweet souls!!

I'm bringing back Magic Monday with a *Special Edition* to recap the FFB Workshop this past weekend for those of you who couldn’t join us. There were so many golden nuggets of advice & insight from our Broadway, Fitness, and Wellness pals who led us through a full day of FFB transformation. Here they are in order of our day...

1. YOGA with Amos Wolff // GROUNDING ON THE MAT

Amos explained that his journey to yoga came about during a difficult time in his life when his practice offered more than just a workout. The Mat became a place to find his grounding and center mentally, spiritually, and emotionally as well as physically!

Apply this wisdom: Next time you hit your yoga mat, focus on the breath. Spend the first 5 or so minutes in deep breathing meditation to help ground every part of your being and help transition you into your physical practice.

2. SOUND BATH & MEDIATION with Heal by Sound // LOVE & PEACE… IT’S A CHOICE

We had a last minute replacement for our meditation segment but as it goes with magical circles of friends, our guests, Heal By Sound, Alex Hill and Kéren, brought so much light into the room! They led us through breath work, a soundbath meditation, energy work, and some vocalizations to get our bodies warmed up for our workouts! Keren shared a beautiful takeaway from Buddhist teachings about always choosing to align with the a higher intention to calm anxieties or negative emotions. And realizing that it is a choice, every single day- we can choose happiness, love, peace, joy! Every positive quality we want to fill our day with is simply a choice.

Apply this wisdom: Find 5 or 10 minutes to meditate in the morning or evening and concentrate on the quality you want to bring into your life and breathe deeply, inhaling that quality

3. THE ROPE with Amanda Kloots // BEGIN YOUR WORKOUT WITH ABS

Amanda’s workouts always begin with ab focused exercises because she believes everything to follow should engage your abs so firing them up from the get-go is a great approach to your workouts!

Apply this tip: Next time you hit a class or the gym, arrive 10 minutes early and run through a brief ab exercise to fire up your core!

4. LARABAR, our midday treat! // HEALTHY BARS CAN LITERALLY TASTE LIKE PIE!

With our flavor of the day, Key Lime Pie, we were all vibing with the idea that healthy can and should taste delicious!

Check out their other yummy flavors below! (click their logo!)

5. JUS BY JULIE, our afternoon juice! // JUS CAN BE BLENDED, NOT COLD PRESSED!

JÙS by Julie uses a special blending process to make their JÙSes are full of powerhouse antioxidants, live enzymes and fiber, which play a major role in absorbing and flushing toxins from your body. Also, cheers to local businesses in NYC who are making waves in the healthy food world!

6. JOSH GREEN, Broadway Mentor // THINGS FALL INTO PLACE WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT!

Justin R. filled me in on his Broadway Mentor, Josh Green’s wisdom about timing and how life unfolds for you when you least expect it. Josh explained his road to Broadway happened through a random gig that he had no idea would be his door to Wicked! When you least expect it, preparation and opportunity meet.

7. KELCY GRIFFIN, Broadway Mentor // MAKE THEM REMEMBER YOUR FACE.

Meagan S. filled me in on some amazing advice from her small tribe circle with her Broadway Mentor, Kelcy Griffin. Kelcy’s advice was get to as many auditions as possible so people start to remember your face. She also advised to jump in to summer gigs, cruises, and regional theatre as quickly as possible when you're young for experience and to build your resume!

8. DANNY QUADRINO, Broadway Mentor // CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT... RESEARCH!

Danny's FFB tribe small group dove into character development. Danny advised to focus on research, research, research when you are working on character development!

9. ARIANA DEBOSE, Broadway Speaker // HUSTLE.

Opportunities present themselves when we hustle! Not the very minimum hustle but the going-above-and-beyond HUSTLE. Ariana hit this point a few times explaining that offers only came her way because she was working her butt off. At one point she said, “If there were 3 auditions that day, I hit 5.” She even joked about going to a Miss Saigon audition and emphasized that you can only learn what you’re right and wrong for by trying and giving it your all.

10. NICK CORDERO, Broadway Speaker // LASER FOCUS ON WHAT MAKES YOU UNIQUE.

Nick had been cast in Bullets over Broadway during a time when he considered shifting away from the industry, so much so that he was enrolled in real estate classes at the time. Bullets over Broadway propelled his career forward as he went on to star in Waitress and now, A Bronx Tale. He explained that you have to focus on what makes you unique. Focus on it for a month, a year, 10 years... Focus on the thing that makes you different from everyone else and eventually it will be the quality that opens up the door for you.

The next FFB Workshop is scheduled for November 20th! I'd love to hear if you are interested in being a part of that day.. please email me jane@fitforbroadway.com so I can count you in!
