This week we are Artists Inspired by Self-Care and our hot topic is therapy! Recently, through Goldstar, we snagged tickets to “A Therapy Session with Myself” and explored a topic that regularly shows up as the ugly stepsister of self-care; Therapy.
Our team member, Caroline, had this to say about seeing “A Therapy Session with Myself”:
“A Therapy Session With Myself was a really amazing show with a super important message! It was a good reminder to check in with yourself and to not ignore what your mind is telling you. As someone who deals with mental illnesses, it was really amazing to see my struggles portrayed on stage in such a truthful way!”
We dug through our FFB archives and found a few profound and transparent sharings about therapy in connection to artist’s inspiration and well-being.
“Training with my trainer and seeing my therapist weekly have been the tools I needed to bolster myself as a performer. My trainer teaches me how to work on my body and my therapist teaches me how to work on my mind… My therapy sessions are just as important (and expensive lol) as my training sessions, and I treat the expense as a necessity for my own self-care and growth.” – Nadia Brown
“So much of what we do is always a snapshot of who we are in that moment and that’s why it feels like therapy. Sometimes you go to therapy and it’s like red alert, red alert, triage, this thing happened and when I leave this meeting I have to go make a big life decision and sometimes it’s about bigger, broader strokes of other things that are going on. But it’s always refracted through that moment in time. Who are you as an artist

As artists, our ability to draw inspiration inside the theatre and apply it outside is incredibly valuable. The web of inspiration if we let it feeds through everything we do and the more we expand our spaces to “download” inspiration or expand ourselves in some way, big or small, the more expansive we become as artists!
Throughout this entire summer, we are picking activities inside or outside the theatre every month to spark inspiration for the artist way!
HOW TO JOIN US:
